Las Vegas Airline Boozers
Nov 18th, 2005 by Alex
From the airport to the airplane, everyone’s boozing up on the way to Las Vegas.
On an 0815 flight to Las Vegas, I arrived at the airport just before seven. I cleared security — complete with cheerful TSA screeners — without setting off any metal/chemical detectors and proceded to the gate. On the way I saw a man at an airport bar enjoying what appeared to be a 24 ounce pilsner glass, no later than 0715.
The flight wasn’t much different. It seemed like everyone was ordering drinks. Bloody Mary’s with Smirnoff to my side, Bud Light up in front, champagne for first class, cranberry juice and vodka behind me.
I’m told by airline personnel than beverage sales are usually quite good on the ride to Sin City, despite rules governing the sale of booze to intoxicated passengers.
