Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Lunacy
Jan 2nd, 2006 by Alex
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl sounds like a snack, not a football series. Someone in marketing ought to be asked about this situation, if not fired for his or her idiocy.
As I was sitting at the diner — as I typically do on Monday nights — I noticed that there was a football game on. I noticed that the Tostitos logo was displayed prominently on the field, and that the graphics kept referring to the “Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.” I realize that advertisers love to stick their product name on everything these days, but to be honest I’d never heard of this one. I think the name of the series sucks.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Tostitos brands a lot. In fact, I like the most all of their products. As my friends could tell you, I’m a bit of a sodium fiend; Tostitos definitely provide a suitable fix. The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl sounds like a pre-packaged snack that could retail at any grocery store. Complete with chips, salsa, and a bowl of some sort; it would be all you need for a party.
According to the above-mentioned web site, this particular series has been going on for 35 years now. How the hell did I miss that? I know that I don’t follow football at all, but I still know some of the series’ names. Okay, so only the Super Bowl and the Rose Bowl… but the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl? Was the series renamed? or has it really existed for 35 years?
