Dave Barry Turns 40

Dave Barry — author of Dave Barry Turns 40 — is one of the best sorts of humor writers, one whose content is timeless and based on the human condition.
The book was written sixteen years ago and it has graced my parent’s bookshelf untouched for many years. The great part about this book is that it is all true; the subject being getting older, it applies to everyone (even if the fashion references don’t).
Dave Barry’s writing is painfully funny. I found myself laughing out loud at quite a few of the passages, having to contain myself, making it another three full lines, then repeating the whole process. Hell, the book begins with the dedication; to a master of public speaking…
for Dan Quayle,
who proved to my generation that,
frankly, anybody can make it
Many of us are approaching 40, if not already there and beyond. Rest assured, there’s something in this book for everyone. I’ll certaining be pulling more of his books off the shelf.
