Douglas Adams’ Insight
Oct 2nd, 2006 by Alex
Although collaboration isn’t a new idea, Douglas Adams describes modern day collaboration in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; the concept that currently lives on…
For those not familiar with the book, the book title bears the same title as the “Guide” that mentioned in the book. So, here’s what that “Guide” has to say about itself.
“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It hase been compiled and recompiled many times over many years and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travelers and researchers.”
Mmm, sounds like massively distributed collaboration to me, much like a wiki, doesn’t it? All of this from the mind of Douglas Adams, sometime in the mid-1970’s. Insightful, indeed.
