Crank: The Fun Doesn’t Stop
Jan 31st, 2007 by Alex
Last weekend a few of us got some Chipotle and watched Crank. There’s only one thing to say. Whoa.
Before a Sparks Plus, the opening camerawork is a bit much on a 72-inch screen. Dizzying even. If you get motion sickness, stay in the kitchen for the first 7 minutes or watch on a smaller set.
We weren’t looking for film noire. Crank is a fun movie. Much better than the Transporter series (which I won’t even bother to link to, in spite of all the other links in these few short paragraphs) in my opinion. In short, the movie is exactly what was advertised. Non-stop. Jason Statham… damn son, he never stops moving, although has some understandable hesitation before a particular scene with Amy Smart. Rediculous. Hilarious. Go to Red Box and get it.
A shame about Amy Smart, here. She plays a spaced out girlfriend with plot-enhancing hearing difficulties. For example, she can’t hear her man bludgeoning people unconscious twenty feet away while she picks up items that have fallen from her purse. The public sex scene is probably the best you’ll get out of her in this movie. Pity. If you like her in general, she had a better role in The Butterfly Effect (which I’d also recommend).
