The Voice of Exasperation
May 16th, 2007 by Alex
Remember the N.Y. Friar’s Club Roast of Hugh Hefner back in 2001? I remembered Gilbert Gottfried’s act, humorously stolen from Ice T. A lot of people don’t appreciate Mr. Gottfried, but I think he isn’t given enough credit. Forget Aladdin and Problem Child, he was the sole savior of Beverly Hills Cop II; he played a very amusing financial advisor. His is the voice of exasperation; love or hate his raspy voice, you can identify it readily without any visual cues. Anyways, I found a clip of the roast on YouTube the other night which I wanted to post…
…only to find that “[the] video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Viacome International Inc.”
Crap. The video had been available for some years and viewed by tens/hundreds of thousands of people without issue and probably isn’t in circulation otherwise. It seems a terrible waste to not distribute the bit. If anything, it’s a plug for future Comedy Central events. I have horrible timing, apparently. Either that or I caused someone from Viacom — not sure what’s up with the “e” — to notice.
So instead, here’s a replacement…
What can I say, I’ve got nothing.
