Gasoline, Silverware, and Urinal Cake Holders

Driving through Severna Park last week I noticed that the 7-11 on the corner of Benfield and Jumpers Hole had removed all references to Citgo in favor of a generic 7-11 logo. I suspected that they weren’t too keen on Hugo Chavez’s behavior. It turns out I was right, although late with the news as usual. Go me. According to an NPR article back in September, 7-11 started soliciting bids for gasoline suppliers back in October 2004. Chavez’s recent remarks about President Bush just solidified their resolve to remove Venezuela from their supply chain. The article also noted that their new suppliers will all be US companies.
Ever notice that your silverware was provided by the same company that provides the urinal cake holder? I did and it caught me completely off guard. I made a mental note and made a point to look up Adams-Burch when I got home. Though completely irrational, I question whether this is a good idea or whether this is common practice.
Random, I know.
