It Would Have Been a Crime to Spend Today Inside

I decided to put my office cleaning project on hold today. I also curtailed laundry, dishes, and a few other household tasks. It was just too nice a day outside to spend it inside. I figure there will be warmer days to work inside.
It was breezy this morning, so I took the opportunity to turn off the air conditioning and open up all the windows. As much as I dislike stressing the air conditioner by adding humidity from outside air, the place gets stuffy after a week or so. Fresh air is the best air. The temperature inside actually dropped a few degrees in the process. It’s supposed to be cool tonight so I’ll be leaving the windows cracked until I close it up before it gets hot tomorrow.
I planted a small row of zinnia seeds in the front yard. I’ve never had a terribly green thumb and I’m not sure if the soil out there will even support the flowers. It’s a bit late for them, but they’re supposed to come up within a week or so. This will be a small experiment.
I want to find some sort of flowers to plant out back under the deck. The deck is raised 10-12 feet off the ground and the view of the back of the place isn’t the most glorious. I’d like to hide it a bit with flowers, but need seeds that will grow without direct sun. The area gets plenty sun in the afternoon from the side, just not all day long.
The neighbor’s dog insisted on coming over and smelling everything. He also took the opportunity to attempt to drown me in slobber.
While airing out the garage I loaded the trunk up with tools and gear that I’ll be needing for some side work tomorrow. I bought a pair of suspenders yesterday to aid holding my toolbelt up, only to find that I had an identical set stowed in a bag with my coveralls. Oops. They weren’t that expensive and it never hurts to have an extra set.
Took a walk to look as some of the new townhouses that were build recently. As I was walking through one of my coworkers — who had recently moved into one of them — drove up behind me. I got the walk-thru of the place; really really nice, although the thought of managing four stories is something I don’t want to think about.
Found some nature trails that I didn’t know existed. Wish I had my bike so I could explore a bit more.
All in all, a very pleasant Sunday.
Awesome day indeed. Nothing better than having the time to putz around with personal endeavours of such nature. Plus explorer the neighborhood is nice.
DJ: I’ve lived here for over three years and haven’t explored on foot. I’ve driven around looking at houses and property a dozen or more times and have noticed the foot paths but I never would have found the one that I found yesterday.
[...] The zinnias that I planted a few weeks ago are coming up. No flowers yet, but they’re definitely growing fast. I’m amazed that the ground is supporting it; there must be some good soil beneath all of those decorative stones. We’ve had some nice and warm weather with a decent amount of rain. Probably doesn’t hurt. Now the hope is that the lawn service doesn’t mow them before they bloom. [...]
