Where Did the Weekend Go?

I didn’t get to dig.
Instead I drove to New Jersey with a friend to pickup a car that he had purchased. Not at all related to digging a hole, but it’s the same friend so either way I was helping him out. I’m not huge into cars, but apparently the Toyota Supra Targa — with its twin turbo and other things — is pretty damned quick. You know that absurdly orange race car from Fast and the Furious? That’s it. I think the guy selling it was genuine in his need to sell it, but some of his behavior indicated some shady background. He still needs to drive down several pieces, including the stock hood, the top to the car, and a few other miscellaneous things.
We didn’t take the Turnpike or the Atlantic City Expressway. We took 95 to 295 to 322. I had never driven on 322 before, but it’s really pleasant. The next time I go out to Ocean City NJ I think I’ll take it. It more or less parallels the AC Expressway but it’s a lot more scenic. I spend so much of my driving time on major highways, I think it’s good to slow down a bit and enjoy the view.
I did get to help build a fence.
When I arrived the majority of the post holes were dug, posts set. I started — covering my head in a t-shirt to shade me from the sun — with the slats and managed a good portion of them. We were fed for lunch and dinner, but took few breaks other than for water. A lot of work. My thighs are sore, as are my feet, as well as my drill hand around the thumb knuckle. No sunburn though, which I’m pleased about since I spent all day outside. At present the fence is 90% built. When I left — after some nine hours of working — there were a few gates to be constructed, but another trip to Home Depot was imminent. Can’t finish without several trips to the hardware store or picking up a few extra 2×4s.
I also bought two copies of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, one for me and one because there were two pallets of them at BJ’s and I figured that someone would buy it off me. I’m about half-way finished with it. Will probably finish it tonight or tomorrow. I’m holding my opinions until later.
