I May Need Help But Not With Alzheimers
Jul 31st, 2007 by Alex
Someone paged my SkyTel today with the following number: 847-816-3200. I didn’t recognize it so I used Google to look it up.
Americana Healthcare Centers
1500 South Milwaukee Avenue
Libertyville, IL 60048-3723
Phone: (847) 816-3200
Business Types: Alzheimers Help Groups, Nursing & Life Care Homes, Rehabilitation Products & Services
I am responsible for responding so I called just to be sure. A very nice woman answered the phone and upon giving my first name and the number that was left for me confirmed that she didn’t page me. She didn’t elaborate any further. Now there are three possibilities.
- Americana dialed the wrong number. It happens.
- Someone trying to reach me provided the wrong callback number. Not my problem.
- Someone is being being funny. I’m always bitching that I’m going senile and forgetting things. I think I’m a bit young for Alzheimers, but the joke is pretty amusing.
Bummer if someone really needs me, but I’m not omniscient. I’m certainly not taking the effort to call everyone I know that could have paged me. If someone really needed to reach me, they’d resend when I don’t return the call. I hope. :-/
And before anyone asks (because someone always does)… Yes, I carry an alphanumeric pager (for the several of the reasons outlined in the linked page).
