Bourne is Back on the Silver Screen
Aug 3rd, 2007 by Alex
I just got back from seeing The Bourne Ultimatum at Muvico. After a really quick pint of Bad Moon Porter we made it into the theater with fifteen minutes to spare. Or so we thought, since the first row was the only row that could fit our five. Without plot spoilers I can say that I enjoyed the movie a great deal and that it complements the first two quite nicely. It tied some things together and left some room for imagination; I don’t like movies to lay everything out for you, I prefer to be allowed to put together part of the plot in my head. My big complaint is that director Paul Greengrass apparently doesn’t understand or appreciate the concept of steadicam. Either that or he’s never sat as close to the screen as we did. My only suggestion would be to arrive early and don’t sit too close. Trust me.
I don’t usually make dedications, but tonight calls for an exception. This was a particularly crummy week at work for me and several of my coworkers, but somehow in the midst of it all we were talking about commercials and I remembered this spoof and attempted — albeit badly — to describe it. So to all of my coworkers that find themselves here and anyone else who needs a break, breather, or just a good laugh… here it is.
It’s definitely worth the minute that you’ll spend watching it.
I wish I had read your post before going to the movies. I saw the film on Saturday and it was great, but my cousin and aunt wanted to sit much too close rather than way in the back/top. I should have vetoed their choice. Now, I want to go back and watch the 1st two.
danielle: I vegetated on the couch and watched Supremacy the day before, although with the flashbacks I doubt it was really necessary. Nicely done.
