The Ginormous Office Project, Week Four
Aug 30th, 2007 by Alex
I’m done.
It took four weeks of effort and the added pressure of an upcoming social engagement where I’ll be entertaining to get this project completed, but it’s finally done.
There’s still a lot of boxes stacked, but they are in order and I had a good idea of what’s in them. I might venture to bust one open each week and continue cleaning things out, but one thing at a time. I am glad that documented the entire process though. I had no idea it would take so much.
That’s all of the remains. Things that I’ll be taking out of the office permanently; no relocation, at least not inside my house. Two very full bags of paperwork to be recycled. The county pickup guys are going to be irked at the weight. One large box full to the brim of non-recyclable trash that I need to bag up in a contractor bag. A dozen boxes to be broken down. A large box of paper that needs to be shredded before recycling or tossed; statements, private correspondence that I don’t feel like keeping, etc. Stranger still are the five hard drives; no indication of age or contents. I’ve given up on those so I’m just going to drill through the platters with a titanium drill bit. The motors are probably shot on them and I know of no other way other than degaussing to destroy whatever data remains on them.
I think a carpet shampooing might be in order. The carpet looks… orange.
Wow, looks good man.
