Peanut… Peanut Butter… and Jelly
Oct 12th, 2007 by Alex
I typically make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. I put peanut butter on one side and strawberry jelly on the other, throw it in a sandwich bag and head to work. I don’t like my sandwich to be refrigerated, so it usually sits on my desk until lunchtime.
Here’s the part that I don’t get.
When it comes time to eat the thing, I take a bite. Whether peanut butter or jelly ends up on top, I usually flip the sandwich over and take another bite so that the other spread ends up on top. One side is clearly more peanut buttery, the other is more jelly-like. Then I flip it and try again. I never make a note of which taste I prefer or what side is up. The flipping routine continues until I subconsciously make a decision which taste I prefer.
I might be over thinking this, but I think its strange that I don’t know whether I like my sandwiches peanut butter side up or jelly side up.
Uh, yeah… I think you’re overthinking it. Ever try peanut butter and honey??
To some extent all musing stems from overthinking. I know I like my eggs a certain way. The same thing with other foods. I just think its strange that after eating a LOT of sandwiches over the span of a few decades I can’t quite place how I like them.
I started with peanut butter and honey, back in the day. Now I find honey to be a bit too sweet for general consumption.
