The Day Started… Strike That, I’ve Had Better Days Than This

I finally got back to the gym today after a brief hiatus. I was briefly worried over the weekend when I found myself short of breath, but after a good amount of cardio this evening I feel much better and assured that my lung capacity is alright. I worked my abs proper, such that they might ache a bit tomorrow morning. I took it easy on the upper body, focusing mostly on bis/tris/pecs. Will work lower body back into the routine next week. I left the gym feeling refreshed and pleased with myself.
I came out to my car and saw that someone had scraped the front bumper cover on the driver’s side, in between the fog lamp frame and the corner marker. Further inspection revealed that the bumper cover is cracked all the way through in two places. Patching might be possible, but it’ll probably look like crap. I’m trying to figure out if I want to attempt purchasing the parts/paint to fix it or whether to leave it be. That’s the logical side of my thinking, not the angry side. Considering that I was parked in the center of the space, front end facing a large concrete light post, the dumbassindividual who hit me really must not have been paying attention. No note, of course. There hasn’t been a note any of the times that people have hit my car. I thought I was paid up in the karma department, but maybe not. Or maybe the shitheadindividual doesn’t realize that leaving the scene of an accident is a felony in this particular jurisdiction, the same if you had hit a person and run.
I had planned to make Pasta e Piselli for dinner tonight, so I went to pickup a few ingredients on the way home from work. There was no fresh basil to be had at the grocer so I had to substitute the dried stuff. The dish is a soup, a lighter relative of pasta e fagioli (and far less time consuming to prepare). Any time you simmer garlic in broth and tomatoes you forget that it smells good after a few minutes of being around it, unless you head out of the room for a few minutes. When you return, it hits you. I love that. Between me cooking and my roommate cooking garlic chicken the place smells pretty amazing. The soup itself was a bit light but tasty. I have a feeling that it’ll taste better the second day, the pasta getting a chance to marinate in the flavors a bit. I’d make it again, but would definitely want to try it with fresh basil next time.
Tomorrow is another day. Some things are still up in the air, but I’ve got a good plan together to get me started. Looking forward to seeing how things turn out.
