I Am Five Years Old Again

I love snow. It’s aesthetically pleasing pretty and your footprints follow you wherever you go. I woke up this morning after a late night and wandered downstairs, rather oblivious to the fact that there was indeed weather outside. As I picked up my jacket off the floor where I had tossed it while on a beeline to bed, it was at this point that I noticed that there was snow on the ground outside. I stopped where I was and cracked the blinds. The grass and the sidewalk were lightly covered. The road was fine. Sure enough, the first snow of the season.
I stood there and stared at it with the wonder of a small child, like I hadn’t seen it in years. As much as I would have liked to stay home and make a snowman, there wasn’t enough snow and I did have to go to work today. It may not have been the right sort of snow for packing anyways and I decided not to find out least I not make it into work on account of it being the right sort.
The Parkway was beautiful this morning, especially by the Little Patuxent River where the median breaks up a bit. The foliage gets a bit less dense and it allows light to pass through. Very scenic and refreshing from what is normally a commute without any heart.
I tend to not care for snow mid week. When we were young it was cause for excitement of the possibility of school being late or canceled. Now as adults its can only mean one thing. People will forget how to drive and you commute to and/or from work is bound to take 2, 3, or even 4 times as long as normal. Dont get me wrong, I love snow. Its beautiful on an undisturbed landscape, but save it for a Saturday morning please.
danielle: Excellent! That reminds me of watching Letterman back in the day. When it would snow he’d pull a box of snowballs out from under his desk and start winging them at Paul, the band, the audience. Classic stuff there, so much so that I can’t find any clips on YouTube or Google Video.
