It didn't think it was rude, just out of place at a bank. I'm curious about the light output as well since most of my place is Reveal bulbs; supposedly these are the cool natural light (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:CFBulbs.jpg" rel="nofollow">as pictured here</a> to the far left)... will let you know when I place 'em. I'm still not convinced about the compact bulbs...the light still seems very harsh to me, when compared to the GE Reveal bulbs.
