Electric Blankets, Yes Please
Mar 6th, 2008 by Alex
I’ve been under the weather the past few days and have come to the following conclusion: electric blankets don’t get enough credit. Schultz wrote that “happiness is a warm blanket” and I don’t think he could be more correct. Often forgotten or dismissed as safety hazards, electric blankets are making a comeback and I think they rock.
When you hop into a pre-warmed bed, it’s not cold. Sounds simple, but it’s a comforting luxury. No more rubbing your feet together to keep warm.
When you get up in the middle of the night to get a glass of water, the bed is still just as warm as when you left it.
When natural gas/oil prices are higher than electric rates, set your thermostat a bit lower and turn on your blanket. I’m told that it’s far more efficient to spot heat one or two rooms in the house that raise the temperature of the entire house up a few degrees. I want to grab the wattage off of my blanket and find out for sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Few tangible things provide as much comfort.
I’ve had an electric blanket forever and it is a wonderful thing.
I have an electric blanket, it is scratchy and feels bad but the warmth is worth it.
