Things to Keep an Eye On
May 17th, 2008 by Alex
I take notes about everything. Sometimes they read like to-do lists and other times it’s just things that I read or heard about that I want to investigate further. Only problem is that I don’t keep a notepad, so I end up with little slips of paper everywhere until I embark on a seasonal cleaning binge. Rather than consolidate on yet another piece of paper, I’m going to embed these little nuggets on this here magnetic media instead.

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures lately and I’ve been thinking about replacing my Olympus D-460. I was looking for something small with a decent screen and BJ’s had a few Canon models that I liked the look and feel of. That and several pounds worth of cocktail weenies and dill pickle spears, because that’s how my mind works.

I heard about these listening to 106.5 the other day at my desk and I find it sad that the services exist, let alone have steady users.

I’m waiting to be reimbursed for travel I went on back in April. The software used to track these sorts of things doesn’t run too well on my computer, hence the note with the extension I need.

I recently had the brakes on my car overhauled. The total for all the OEM parts from the dealer came to $401 after tax. There weren’t any core fees but I’m going to see if I can do better on the price for next time.

I just got my car insurance renewal paperwork and was surprised to see new discounts listed. I have no idea what’s involved in being a premier driver (no accidents or claims, maybe) or vehicle experience (the fact that I’ve had this car forever, perhaps). I had to double check my old paperwork just to see if the discounts were there. They weren’t, but apparently having airbags and daylight running lights don’t save me or my car from harm as much as they did last year because those discounts dropped a bit. I’ll never understand actuarial science.
I need to dig up a classy message for /etc/issue on the new server.
ET was on Nickelodeon while I was eating dinner tonight. I still like this movie but I did notice one thing. The same movie that made us all fear men with carabiners full of keys also introduced us to the term “penis breath” as an insult, which itself isn’t so bad language-wise for the youngsters until they figure out the context.
I just picked up the SD850 from amazon for a great price. It too gets high marks across the board like the 750 does, and has IS as well which is pretty awesome. DJ has the 750, I have the 850, looking at both of them and using them, it seems that the 850 is just the newer 750. Might be something else to look into. Not that you don’t have enough on your plate
