Doogie Howser Movie
Jun 10th, 2008 by Alex
Why hasn’t Doogie Howser, M.D. been made into a movie yet? With all of the other television shows that the studios have been making these days instead of coming up with new material, why not? It could be dubbed “The Later Years” (paying homage to Fred Savage) and depict Dr. Howser handling a few cases while being sued over the loss of his medical notes. Seriously, you didn’t think that his blue-screened diary would run forever without failing, did you?
If New Kids on the Block can get back together years later, why not reunite the old cast?
Who wouldn’t want to see NPH as Doogie in one of his earlier roles, some 15 years later? Max Casella would return as Vinnie, now his lawyer representing his best friend. Hugh Laurie would have to make a cameo of sorts to assist with the diagnosis. Familiar faces from Law & Order could assist with the litigation. The list could go on and on, especially if co-sponsored by USA, TNT, FX, and NBC.
With the public loving medical mystery shows and legal shows, why not combine the two all while bringing back known characters? Plus NPH has been on the rise for a while… between his roles in How I Met Your Mother and the Harold & Kumar series, who wouldn’t go see the movie?
Until a minute ago, I had no idea that you could search IMDB for “nph” and get Neil Patrick Harris. You can watch all of the old Doogie Howser, M.D. episodes online. Considering the outfits I’ve seen in a few of them, I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
