Leftovers Will Have to Wait

I was out a lot last week.
Monday afternoon I attended a business meeting at Hana to go over some quarterly numbers. That statement alone makes me feel old. I ordered the chicken yaki soba ($9.95) and enjoyed it, but the overall experience at Hana wasn’t too great. The pricing at this Piney Orchard establishment is slightly higher than the downtown Annapolis sushi restaurants such as Joss or Ninja, averaging $6 per roll. The place is very quiet, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, but the staff don’t go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Sitting there near the end of their lunch period, I felt rushed as if they really just wanted to close up and go home. As if we — being the only group seated — were more of a hassle than we were worth. And it’s in Piney Orchard (near no other place of interest); definitely not worth the trip out of the way.
Wednesday night I met a few friends at The Dog Pub in Columbia. I find the service there to be hit or miss. A miss this time. The servers will pay a lot of attention to you, seemingly until you want their attention to order another round — which you might think would be good for sales/tip — at which point they are nowhere to be found. Empty mugs are not a good thing. Hopefully a hit next time.
Thursday night I grabbed a bite to eat at Chick & Ruth’s Delly — which, if you’ve never been is something special (and a bargain) that you ought to experience some time — before joining a bunch of people at Rams Head Tavern to celebrate a good man’s birthday. Fordham had just released their Scotch Ale and though it was tasty it pales in comparison to McEwan’s. Later we walked down to McGarvey’s for a little bit. I like that there’s no televisions there and will have to make a point to head back there in the future.
Friday I joined a few coworkers at West End Grill to send off one of our fine coworkers (who has decided to pursue a new line of work). I recommend the West End Tots (smothered with cheese and bacon) and the (very large) chicken quesadilla, especially during Happy Hour when they’re both half-price. Have you ever noticed that Firefox doesn’t know about the word “quesadilla?”
Downtown Annapolis served as host to a private event on Saturday. Lots of fun, even after it began to rain later in the evening.
On Sunday we celebrated another birthday at Cheeseburger in Paradise.
I almost forgot my grilled blueberry muffin from Double T Diner this Monday and last. This has been a very irregular week for me. I bring my lunches into work most days and try not to eat out all that much during the week. I’m pooped and completely ready to attack the leftovers in the fridge.
Like I NEED the temptation of any more food. What a tasty week you seem to have had. If you are anything like me the fastly approaching holidays will bring on more eating out. Yum?!
I’ve only been to Dog Pub once. Not bad as I remember. Two for one beer at happy hour.
A former employee told me to never eat at Chick and Ruths. I would anyways. It’s about the cheapest food in Annapolis.
Tamra: The approaching holidays will likely mean less eating out at restaurants and money pigging in.
yellojkt: Two for one, all the time. I wonder what their beef was with the food…
