Inclusion on Blogged.com Directory
Dec 9th, 2008 by Alex
I find it interesting how many little services scour the Internet for blogs and then include them in their directories. Today I found another one: Blogged.com. It was mentioned on Mashable back in February, so it isn’t that new but today was the first time I saw a reference to it. I turned AdBlock off for a few page loads and it doesn’t appear to have much in the way of advertising. I wonder how long this service will last in the face of Technorati and the other major aggregators and directories.
So I ran a quick search on the domain name. This blog is “great” (scoring 8.3/10) according to the service, though it doesn’t appear to have drawn any reviews or comments from actual users of the service. With a nameless editor, for all we know that could be a randomly generated score.
While I do wonder how Blogged.com discovered me, I’ve given up attempting to claim my blog or scripts on every new directory site that comes along. There’s too many of them, all trying to distinguish themselves and make a few bucks. Most of them — this one included — require yet another registration that I’ll never utilize.
I can’t tell when they discovered. The thumbnail they have pictured is older, without the link to the photo feed and including the outdated top-of-the-page links. I can’t make out the text on the entry, though. It looks blurry to me.
I found several other Baltimore blogs in their directory. Some rated. Some not. Perhaps they scoured Blogtimore?
