One Room at a Time
Jan 5th, 2009 by Alex
They say that unpacking is best done one room at a time. I think cleaning is the same way, so this weekend I attacked the living room.
Violently.
Besides dust bunnies, I found some neat things.
In the course of moving a couch (in order to make room for three plants to be near the window) I found a Third Eye Blind poster from a show at College Park that’s signed by two of the band members. Just laying there under the couch, surprisingly undusty. Not sure what I want to do with it. Frame. Gift. Donate. Sell.
No idea.
I found some older mix CDs that I had made while in college, back when I had a disc changer in my car. They’re loosely themed to genres, with titles such as Club, Not-So-Classic Rock, HC Anger (lots of heavy metal-like thrashing about), and Transcient. I gave them all a listen and was pleased to discover that I still like a lot of my old picks.
Cool.
While taking a break from the living room, I set up the AeroGarden. These things are supposed to be voodoo, so hopefully I’ll have fresh oregano, thyme, mint, chives, dill, and basil within a few weeks. The thing hums all of the time, aerating I think. It also must look suspicious, what with grow lamps running 16 hours a day in the kitchen.
Next stop is the bedroom.
I’m trying to clean one room at a time and it’s not going well. The clean room gets cluttered again before I can clean another room.
yellojkt: I know the feeling. This cleaning works in tangent with one of my goals, to take care of things right away. Instead of coming home and dropping everything on the table (like the mail, for example) I try to sort it out for bills, recycling, reading, etc. right away. If there’s no excess, there’s naturally less clutter. That’s the plan anyways.
