Movember Pub Crawl Nets $1400 for Charity
Nov 22nd, 2009 by Alex
When I signed up for the Boh Knows Movember pub crawl, I knew that there would be a pub crawl involved. I knew that I’d grow a mustache, or at least attempt to. I wasn’t quite sure whether we’d raise awareness about men’s health issues or not. I also wasn’t quite sure how participating would raise any money for charity. But out I went yesterday afternoon, to see how things would progress.
There were quite a few “Boh Knows” t-shirt clad people seen wandering through South Baltimore all afternoon and into the evening, hopping from bar to bar. I believe there were somewhere between 60 and 70 participants, easily overwhelming some of the smaller bars on the route. That’s a lot of mustaches.
And the good news — aside from all the gallivanting to be had — was that more than $1400 was raised for the Prostate Cancer Foundation!
I had a blast, reuniting with some friends and meeting some new ones. There’s already been some coverage on Midnight Sun (by participant Sam Sessa) on the event. One thing was for certain, the event was a crazy success. Props to Evan and Jessica (and others) for putting it together.
Oh, and Hideaways has one heck of a BBQ Sandwick (yes, spelled with a K).
Score.
Sorry I missed the fun.
What? No pictures of your ’stache? I’m disappointed.
JJT: Next year, perhaps? Or was your ’stache a one-time documented event?
Andy: Just for you, I’ll refrain from shaving it. At least until we make plans to meet up.
