Vegging Out Amidst the Snow
Dec 20th, 2009 by Alex
This weekend’s snowfall gave me plenty of time to relax.
I’ve been enjoying First Stint, a free 22 track album released by Ben Youngs. Well-composed soundscapes dominate the album, with a few remixes thrown in for variety. A few remixed Fools & Horses tracks are included, as is a really addictive track by Kaitlin Sweeney.
The last time I visited The Book Thing of Baltimore I picked up a copy of Michael Crichton’s Next. After a few weeks of reading a chapter or two here and there I finished it last night. It’s a planned mixture of fact and fiction surrounding genetic engineering. As always, I enjoyed how the Crichton got into some of the technical bits without completely geeking out. But the writing felt loose, as if there were a few too many story lines being woven together. No need to keep it on the shelf, so it easily falls into the “you can have it if you want to read it, else I’ll just return it” pile.
I picked up a bag of Garden of Eatin’ Blue Corn Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips at BJ’s last week. I’m not big into organic foods, but these are some seriously excellent tortilla chips! Nice and crunchy without disintegrating or exploding when you take a bite. They aren’t greasy at all, either. With just a touch of salt they actually have a solid flavor, unlike some of the more healthy junk foods that make you think you’re eating a piece of cardboard.
Snow days are excellent for vegging out.
