Over the past six days I’ve received as many collection calls from Transworld Systems. I’ve missed most of these calls, but strangely they continue before the voice mail prompts and have been recorded.
This is an important message from Transworld Systems. The law requires that we notify you that this is a debt collection company. This [...]

Whoever is operating the fortune cookie machine is asleep at the switch. Lately I’ve been getting cookies with multiple fortunes. Whenever you get duplicates, you want to believe that it’s more applicable.
In Cookie #1, there were three fortunes. All the same.
“People find it difficult to resist your persuasive manner.”
In Cookie #2, there were four. Two [...]

I went to Victoria Gastro Pub for lunch today with some coworkers. While a tad too fancy for my day-to-day tastes, I liked it. The food was flavorful and filling. Servers dressed in black, providing excellent table service.
After eating at Hot Doug’s in Chicago, I was ready to try a Bucket of the Duck Fat [...]

This week just didn’t want to end. I feel like I haven’t had time to write, relax, watch movies, or tend to things around the house. A 60 hour week will do that, I guess. I still have about a dozen hours to make up from all of the snow, so next week will be [...]

Second Chance Saloon is a nice little neighborhood joint, tucked back in the folds of Columbia. They’ve got live music, decent prices, specials, and best of all a kitchen that delivers.
For the most-part, the photographs speak for themselves.
Second Chance Nachos, consisting of “tortilla chips piled high and topped with seasoned beef, cheddar jack cheese, jalapenos, [...]

There’s something about collecting money from the wife of your boss to pay off his bookie. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

When you’re stuck inside for long periods of time, your mind wanders.
I find myself yelling at the television while watching the most amusing sitcoms. The “no, you can’t do that!” is definitely me, sitting on the edge of the couch with my head in my hands. During the majority of the “Nothing good ever happens [...]

RIT has been on a quarter calendar for a long time. Each quarter consists of 10 weeks. Distribution of the syllabus’ are during week one, midterms at week five, with exams at the end. Simple. That’s all going to change in the Fall of 2013.
In a February 10th letter to all RIT faculty, staff, students, [...]

I can’t usually work from home, but yet our corporate offices were open this past week. Since I couldn’t get to my office, I ended up not working quite a bit. Without sharing all of the specifics of corporate woe, here are my options.
Work 9 hour days until March 19th, effectively making up the time.
Take [...]

Corky’s Smoke Shack opened last week, probably to the worst weather Maryland has seen in a decade. That normally wouldn’t matter, except that the Shack is located outside. But even that doesn’t seem to matter. According to the owners, there’s been a steady stream of customers since opening day. Even on an overcast Thursday afternoon, [...]

I missed this video on Sunday night. Listen on your stereo, though I wish there were an HD version.
I really like the arrangement with the orchestra, particularly with the strings and piano.

It’s just snowed. Maybe still snowing. You’re about to shovel your driveway. But where to put all of it?
Maybe you have room to shovel it to the side of the driveway. Super. Maybe you’re going to pile it into the bed of your truck. Great. Maybe you’re going to say “to hell with county ordinance” [...]

The last big snow, we all bitched about how we couldn’t get out. In retrospect, that was nothing. We could have gotten out. This time around — with over three feet of snow in less than 24 hours — no one is going anywhere without a plow, although I just got a report about some [...]

After all the hype and the panic and the long lines of cars entering and exiting Walmart, it took almost four hours of snowfall before it started sticking to the street. It still isn’t sticking to the sidewalk, but it’s finally here.
We’ve got an eighth cup of milk left in the jug, but we’re stocked [...]
