A close friend and I have always talked about opening a bar. We’ve got a name picked out and everything. I think everyone dreams about running their own place at least once, having conversations that start with the phrase “if I owned the bar…” and ending with some absurdly crazy thing they’d like to have. [...]

I’m done.
It took four weeks of effort and the added pressure of an upcoming social engagement where I’ll be entertaining to get this project completed, but it’s finally done.

There’s still a lot of boxes stacked, but they are in order and I had a good idea of what’s in them. I might venture to [...]

I am making progress in my office cleaning project. I tackled three boxes yesterday over a period of two hours. They were filled with a lot of loose items so it was slow going. Most of the things I’m finding now fall into the recycle or throwaway pile, although some of the bigger items are [...]

I’m going to see Fools & Horses at Nottingham’s (Flash) on Friday night. They’re playing at O’Brien’s on Saturday night but I’m just not feeling DTA this weekend. Columbia is closer to home anyways. Nottingham’s isn’t my favorite and this isn’t my weekend to party but I still think I deserve to get out and [...]

It’s actually been a month since I started my office cleaning project. It is only the second weekend that I’ve put any real time into it. It looked like it was going to be hot and humid out this afternoon so I decided to take another couple hours at it. I’m proud to say that [...]

This weekend is going to be full of manual labor. I’m helping out with home improvements at two separate houses.
Tomorrow I’m helping dig a hole. Not just any hole in the ground like the type that kids create while trying to dig to China while Mom and Dad sit back and enjoy not having to [...]

The zinnias that I planted a few weeks ago are coming up. No flowers yet, but they’re definitely growing fast. I’m amazed that the ground is supporting it; there must be some good soil beneath all of those decorative stones. We’ve had some nice and warm weather with a decent amount of rain. Probably doesn’t [...]

I am a habitual drug user.
I take approximately fifty-five milligrams of methyltheobromine every weekday. Sometimes more, usually on the weekend or for special occassions. Sometimes I chase eighty milligrams with sugar water and immediately demand more from my supplier. On a few rare occassions I’ve taken so much that I’ve experienced muscle twitching and irregular [...]

In years past Independence Day has been a day of grilling with friends and family, quasi-affixed to a long weekend. Lots of marinated foods, outdoor foolishness, laughter, and other assorted goodness. The fact that it’s on a Wednesday this year is jacking up my chi. I can’t justify taking two days off to make it [...]

My office is a disaster.
As you can see, I’ve got piles upon piles of paperwork, old bills, documentation from work, books, computer components. It’s all taking up space that I’d rather be able to offer up if I have guests spend the night or otherwise use for something other than long term storage.

Ugh.
When I [...]

I’ve been thinking about my pricing model for side work; specifically I’ve been debating offering monthly plans either in conjunction or instead of a flat hourly rate. Despite not being a fan of monthly service contracts, they make sense for the industry and potentially for me and my clients.

I’ve been quiet lately, busy busy preparing the second bedroom in my place for a new roommmate. It was previously an office that had turned into a storage area for extra furniture and clothes. I like working on my place, but it leaves me tired at the end of the day.
I installed 42″ ceiling fans [...]

Spiritual Enlightenment at Lexus

I was at Lexus getting my car worked on last week and was reading the March 2007 issue of Spirtuality & Health magazine that a hip and happening new age owner had left behind. The magazine — printed entirely on recycled paper — is quite a load of crap, offering little in the way of [...]

So Close to a Break

After several months of non-stop work, this year’s Rock N’ Roll Revival is coming to a close. I’m actually looking forward to having a few days off, versus running 16 hour days every day. But tomorrow isn’t the beginning. I’m renewing my license in the morning. My FiOS install is tomorrow between 1 and 5. [...]
