Here we are; Rock N’ Roll Revival XVIII. After several months of effort coming to fruition, last night’s opening was outstanding. We kicked RNR XVIII off this year in a way unique to the show. The videos are major spoilers. If you have tickets this year, I recommend you skip the following links entirely and [...]

Poo Poo to Valentine’s Day
Posted in complaints, conspiracies, humor, office, web sites on Feb 14th, 2007
I dislike today.
Partially because the snow plow (which didn’t bother coming by until early afternoon) piled up a foot worth of ice in front of my driveway (which I had taken great efforts to clear mere hours ago) which I had to re-clear before I could get my car in the driveway. Partially because it’s [...]
Chappelle Videos
Posted in humor, television, web sites on Feb 12th, 2007
I told a co-worker that I’d send him some links to my preferred Chappelle’s Show parodies. So here they are, descriptions censored for those sensitive souls.
Grand Theft Auto. The weapon selection is key.
Cribs. “C’mon in your broke motherf__kers!”
Wayne Brady. Longer, but worth it. “Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?”
And for those sick [...]

I use Mailman to provide mailing list services to friends, family, and non-profit groups in addition to running a few administrative lists. Doing so has recently exposed a problem with Gmail’s mail delivery.
My Teeth Shine Without a Grill
Posted in healthcare, oddities, web sites on Dec 8th, 2006
I went to the dentist today. I left work good and early so that I could come home and clean my teeth prior. I took time to floss, swish with Listerine, then brush the pearly whites. It’s silly, really… but I do this every time I go to the dentist. If I know I won’t [...]
BSD is Dying
Posted in conspiracies, humor, software, web sites on Dec 4th, 2006
I’m an avid user and fan of FreeBSD, despite despising the new space-like logo. The graphic to the right however, now that is progress. Anyways, I got quite a kick out of BSD is Dying: A Cautionary Tale of Sex and Greed as presented by Jason Dixon at the NYC BSD Conference at Columbia University [...]
Live Dispatch is Entertaining
Posted in technology, web sites on Nov 24th, 2006
A friend of mine runs a server that streams live dispatch for Loudon County Fire & Rescue using the same software that I used to stream MP3’s to buddies in college. Pretty cool use of technology if you ask me. I quickly discovered that some guy does the same for Anne Arundel County Fire Department [...]
MySpace Still Retains Limited License
Posted in legal rights, web sites on Sep 30th, 2006
Previously I noted that MySpace Sucks, particularly because they reserved the rights to the user’s content. It appears that they have changed their tune slightly, although probably not due to user complaints.
A few days ago, requests for the public archives of my SAIC mailing list ceased. It appears that the pipermail archives have been removed from Google’s index entirely.
FeedBurner offers a service called FeedFlare, which enables blog publishers to provide pre-populated links to other sites such as del.icio.us or digg. This works just fine, but only if your articles are contained within your RSS feed.
I have a few thoughts about the recent New York Times article on headlines optimized for search engines.
MySpace Sucks
Posted in legal rights, web sites on Apr 2nd, 2006
MySpace sucks. Without mentioning the maturity of the users or the continuing controversy, here are a few reasons why MySpace sucks.
MySpace lacks structure.
Because MySpace allows users to customize the appearance of their page, the result is a clusterfu… oops, I meant a browsing nightmare. For example, take something as simple as a profile photographs. There [...]
Using LinkedIn for Networking
Posted in web sites on Mar 21st, 2006
LinkedIn fancies itself as a social networking site for managing relationships; similar to Orkut or MySpace, except targeting business professionals.
