Art Attack XXVII was yesterday at University of Maryland College Park.
This is the fourth year that I’ve been involved in this production in some form or another. While I keep busy during the load-in, sound checks, in between bands, and load-out, during the sets themselves I get to sit back and enjoy. Except for a [...]

Two Free Tickets to Dweezil Zappa
Posted in music on Jan 13th, 2010
I’ve got two general admission tickets to Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa at Rams Head Live this Friday, January 15th at 8pm (with doors at 6:30).
Free. No strings.
First come, first served.
Wolf Trap is an amazing venue, specifically the Filene Center. I usually avoid 66 at all costs, but this venue is worth the drive.
First, the venue itself is beautiful. A wooden open-air structure, not unlike Nissan Pavilion but small and more classy. The interior is lit by reflection off the white girders. Wood paneling and [...]
Main Stage Phases at Artscape 2009
Posted in music on Jul 19th, 2009
Though I was just a spectator at Artscape 2009, these two photos explain part of why I like working shows. I get to see the before, during, and after phases.
Before, Friday night:
During, Saturday night just before Robert Randolph and the Family Band:
I didn’t stick around for the after, nor did I make much of an [...]
The Cheaters at Artscape 2009
Posted in music on Jul 18th, 2009
The Cheaters took the Festival Stage last night, putting on a nice set. The crowd was mellow and having a good time, though more sparse than today will be.
I especially liked the picnic tables and lawn chairs that were provided by the Artscape staff for the Festival Stage. Also, it seems all the stages are [...]
On Friday I worked Art Attack XXVI at College Park.
Compared to last year, it was more of a concert than a festival. There were only three bands before the headliner, compared to the dozen or so in the past. Bands went on from 5ish (instead of 2ish) until 10pm, at which point the stadium lights [...]
Bits and Pieces

I’m remiss for not posting earlier, but there’s a winner to the latest caption contest. Paul won a pair of song downloads from iTunes for his super-sweet-like-a-ninja caption.
There are fourteen ninjas in this picture enjoying a keg party.
Had someone written a caption referencing pirates there would have to have been a death match or brownie-making [...]
Fools and Horses Opening for Coldplay
Posted in music on Jul 15th, 2008
Well, maybe…
Fools and Horses has the opportunity to open for Coldplay at the Verizon Center on August 3rd, assuming they get enough votes. Every vote from a unique IP address counts, so if you vote from home and work that’s two distinct votes. Same goes for your mobile, Crackberry, iPhone, etc.
